When You Think You’re Stuck

Haven’t had the time to just do a weekly post what with illness; grand kids; weight training; work; and putting together this seasons new posters; book inventory; finishing my 2nd audio book; and finalizing things I need for the table when I do book signings, it’s not so much “writers block” for ideas… it’s more of “there’s only so many hours in a day,” sort of thing.

So this will be as long as it ends up being.

A little Jesus story.

I was home one day when a couple of nice ladies with a young girl, looking all churchy, and sweaty from the summer heat… they were walking the neighborhood all afternoon… came a knocking.

“Hellos” were exchanged and I offered them a water.

The lady in charge explained that they were from “such and such church” over on Roman Rd and they were canvassing to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ, they asked if I knew Him?

“Heck yeah I do!”

The looks on their faces lit right up.

The head lady indicated that they were not having any luck that day and they had walked and walked, knocking on every door.

Just then a car pulled up, with another nice lady driving, she rolled the window down and let the first nice lady know that it was time to pack it in.

So she handed me her church flyer, said “Thank you”, and invited me to come to church… “This Sunday?”

We had had a nice little discussion about knowing Jesus, the young girl told me about her Sunday school class, and so it was a very nice end to their day.

“Thanks for the offer,” I said.

And as they were walking away I heard the young girl say, as she was getting into the car, “Do you think he will really come?”

If you know me and kids, and where my heart is, I said to myself… “Well now ya gotta go.”

So Sunday rolled around.

Yeeessss. I went.

As I walked up I felt a tad under dressed as the greeters at the door were in suits.

But they were cordial, and as I entered I ran into a son, of an older gentleman I had worked with for years, so I felt a bit more at ease.

And before entering the inner sanctuary, standing outside looking around, here comes the nice lady with the young girl, surrounded by a gaggle of kids, the nice lady was dressed in a Sunday go to meeting dress, as was the young lady, and was looking down taking care of one of the smaller kids, as the young lady caught me looking at her she excitedly grabbed the nice ladys arm and trying not to be loud (she was a little bit loud) exclaims… “He’s here! He came! He came!”

The nice lady looked up, gave me a big smile and hello, and proceeded to wrangle all those little ones back into the Sunday school room.

Now here’s the thing…

When that young lady said, “He’s here!”

I felt like she was looking at Jesus and not me… weird… I know… but I think that’s what happened… I was secondary… which was a really good and peaceful feeling.

The young lady went skipping into Sunday school; I went in for the service; and…

I haven’t been back to that church since.

Matthew 10:42

“And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”

I had a church I was attending, going to that service was prompted by the young girl and her reactions 🤔🦦
      Thanks for the blessing,
