What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

My Dad: Don’t ever start a fight!

Me: Ok

(I always wondered if he knew I got beat up daily in elementary school; on the school bus by older kids; and once in awhile if I ran into older kids from the 5th Ward… I was just a little guy if you’re wondering)

My Dad: But… if someone starts one with you, swing first, it might be the only one you get!

Me: Ok

I don’t know if there’s a moral to this story or not… but I’ve found that advice to be true.
